Melas, vibrant festivals deeply woven into the fabric of our history and heritage, have always been more than just festivals. They were (and still are in many corners) hubs of ideas with an air of intellectual curiosity. The echoes of traditional festivals like “Besakhi Mela” and “Basant” lingers, reminding us of the shared joy and exploration that these gatherings fostered.
Khwarizmi Science Society’s annual Lahore Science Mela has emerged as a powerful advocate for the message: “Science for All”. The core mission of these Melas is to spark wonder and curiosity in young minds and nurture a deep love for science discovery. For five years (2017, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023), the Lahore Science Melas have captivated hundreds of thousands of keen visitors with immersive experiences. Now, KSS embarks on an exciting new chapter: “Thematic Science Melas,” an evolution.
Think of these thematic melas as specialized lenses focusing on specific domains. Each dedicated event will delve into a chosen theme with laser-like focus, enriching participant understanding and igniting a passion for deeper investigation, more than fun and excitement.The thematic journey commences in October 2024 with the “Lahore Hayatiyati Mela,” (hayatiyati=life) a celebration of the biological sciences and their diverse, interconnected branches. This will be followed by the “Lahore Falakiyati Mela” (falakiyati=sky and space) February 2025, venturing into the boundless realm of astronomy. Culminating in the Lahore Science Mela of October 2025, these thematic melas pave the way for a richer and more comprehensive experience.
خوارزمی سائنس سوسائٹی کے موضوعاتی سائنس میلے
ہماری تاریخ و ثقافت سے میلوں کی افادیت ثابت ہے۔ میلے صرف خوشی منانے کا ہی ذریعہ نہیں بلکہ خیالات کے تبادلے اور عِلمی جستجو کو پروان چڑھانے کے مراکز بھی رہے ہیں۔خواززمی سائنس سوسائٹی کا سالانہ لاہور سائنس میلہ “سائنس سب کے لیے” کے پیغام کو فروغ دیتاہے۔ اس سائنسی میلے کا بنیادی مقصد نوجوان ذہنوں میں حیرت کی شمع روشن کرنا اور سائنسی دریافت کے لیے مدت العمر تک رہنے والی لگن پیدا کرنا ہے۔
پانچ سالوں سے، لاہور سائنس میلے اپنے دلکش تجربات سے لوگوں کو اپنی طرف متوجہ کر رہے ہیں۔ان میلوں نے لاکھوں طلباء، اساتذہ، اور عام شہریوں کو سائنس کے بارے میں سیکھنے اور اس میں دلچسپی پیدا کرنے کا موقع فراہم کیا ہے۔ اب، خوارزمی سائنس سوسائٹی ایک نئے اور دلچسپ باب “موضوعاتی سائنس میلوں” کے ساتھ فروغِ علم کے سفر میں ایک قدم اور آگے بڑھ رہی ہے۔ان نئی نوعیت کے میلوں کا مقصد تدریجی طور پرمخصوص مضامین اور شعبہ جات کی طرف عوام کی توجہ دِلانا اور شعور پیدا کرناہے۔ اب میلوں میں حیرت کے ساتھ ساتھ فِکری گہرائی اور نتیجہ خیز عِلم پروری کے موقے مِل سکیں گے۔
چنانچہ اکتوبر 2024ء میں “لاہور حیاتیاتی میلہ” اور فروری 2025ء میں “لاہور فلکیاتی میلہ” شائقینِ عِلم و ہنر کو نئی نئی جہتوں سے متعارف کروائیں گے۔
